Pyrrhic Victory

The miners stormed the defensive barricades around the customs entrance nd after heavy casualties, all of the starport security were dead or dying, but a large number of miners also lost their lives in the attack. Next was the control centre and with Zhil's hacking skillz the doors into the enclave were soon opened and a further defence by starport marines met them, with frag grenades hurled on both sides and although wounds were taken by the pirates none of them proved too serious and the group of cutthroats entered the main control room to find a screaming Director Tli with gun and grenades ready, but she was soon taken down by a well-placed shot and the highport of Venture City was taken.

Meanwhile, outside in the vacuum of space, the Black Swan faced down the Bone Saw which initially thundered towards them, but as the distance closed to the planet's surface of Acrid, decided to pull up as the Black Swan retreated to the hangars. But not before leaving the Bone Saw terribly wounded. Then the crew of the Black Swan took to the turrets and began laying out missiles into the dwindling remnants of the Bone Saw. But the dying ship soon began returning fire at the turrets, beam lasers cutting into the starport...
