A broken Promise

The scout ship the Promise was soon dismissed as two missiles plowed into it, blowing it apart. After some explanations to starport control, the travellers tried to jump to Hilfer but although there were some miscalculations by Ernie, they were caught at the last minute and ship made the jump.

Whilst in jumpspace, Zhil rested up, whilst the others trained. After placing a bug in Ernie's plushie "Azzie", the travellers managed to overhear the Docobsan family talking and hatched a plan to persuade Merwat to surrender the data on her husband's wafer promising her Cr250,000 to start a new life and some initial retincence she agreed.

Arriving at Hilfer in one of the mesa landing bays, amidst the dust and sand of the desert planet, Ernie discovered some signals eminating from the Docobsan's comms and arrangements were made to swap them out. Following a text message from the burner the travellers cautiously made their way to the Nomad's Lodge, where Kaelan scouted out the hostel and eventually the family were sequestered in a back room with Ernie.

Meanwhile Halfnir met a fellow ex-soldier Lyle in the lounge, and Zhil had a call with Meleir Karnash who was persuaded to come down to the lodge to examine the data wafer from Sanaki. However, as this was taking place, two suspicious gents in smart clothes came in looking for the "back room" and made their way to the safe room, only to have the first one collapse with a groan after Ernie put his stunstick on the door handle!
